Kidnapped Businessman Released from Congo After Family Pays $7500 Ransom
Mugabe Robert, a businessman who was kidnapped by gunmen on August 3rd, 2018 in Queen Elizabeth National Park has been released after family members paid a $7,500 ransom.
Mugabe (38), a resident of Busoni village, in Nabiswera Sub County in Nakasongola district, together with three other colleagues Patrick Bukora, Nassolo Sauda, and Julius Saturday, were waylaid by gunmen near the Southern Gate Army Barracks in Kanungu district.
These were travelling in an Isuzu Canter registration number UAB 196J, which was transporting fish from Kasese district to Ishasha in Kanungu district.
The victims according to area police spokesperson Elly Maate were intercepted by a group of armed men, dressed in clothes akin to the uniforms of the Democratic Republic of Congo National Army, who emerged from the national park and started shooting randomly
