Police Recover 5 Guns, Arrest 5; Kill 3 Armed Robbers in Mbarara

Police in Mbarara district have intensified their operation to wipe out armed robbery in Mbarara and its neighboring districts.

The operation started on March 20 this year after residents continuously complained about armed goons, says Mbarara District Police Commander (DPC) SP Jaffar Magyezi.

In one of the key operations mounted by the Mbarara police flying squad unit, Hussein Guma, an army deserter attached to 2nd Division Makenke barracks was shot and killed.

He was found with an AK47 rifle, multiple bullets, machetes, and three pairs of army uniform, hand cuffs, a radio call among other weapons and stolen property.

Consequently, police mounted several other operations, including one in Mitooma district, where, with the help of Guma’s phone, they killed two other accomplices of Guma and arrested three others.

Police also recovered two rifles.
