Trade minister’s husband freed after completing his prison term
Wilson Kyambadde, husband to the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Hon Amelia Kyambadde walked out of Luzira prison after serving his 6 month jail term.
Mr Kyambadde was imprisoned by Flavia Nasuuna, the High Court Deputy Registrar in charge of executions for failing to pay businessman Amdan Khan Shs 1.1 billion, as ordered by the Commercial Court.
Amdan says he paid the said money to Kyambadde in 2012 for a building along Nasser Road in Kampala.
Kyambadde was picked up by court bailiff Kirunda Moses on 10th July 2017 at Old Kampala as he headed for burial.
He was convicted and he served his term which ended yesterday.
Prisons spokesperson Mr. Frank Baine confirmed the release but declined to divulge further information since Mr. Kyambadde had already left their jurisdiction.
