UPC OTUNU FACTION DISTANCES THEMSELVES FROM ALLIANCE WITH NRM

THE Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) faction in Gulu loyal to Olara Otunu has distanced themselves from the group led by the party president, Jimmy Akena that has allied with NRM.

Dan Oola Odiya, the deputy national secretary for mobilization said they were not aware of any alliance between UPC and NRM as had been reported in the media and they will not identify themselves with Akena’s move.

While addressing journalists from northern Uganda Media Club (NUMEC), Oola said the only alliance known to them is The Democratic Alliance (TDA) through which they will offer their support to candidates contesting for elective positions.
Oola added that in the coming 2016 general election, UPC candidates are going to participate fully as UPC; carrying UPC identity, but under the TDA arrangement.

Oola said Akena is looking for money for his pocket, not for the party; adding that they still know Olara Otunu as their party president.
