In an effort to strengthen and preserve the traditions and culture, as well as maintain the quality of the ceremonies in Buganda and Uganda, the Cultural and Events Speakers of the Kabaka’s Mawogola county have elected their leadership aimed at uniting and helping them maintain professionalism and discipline in their field of work.
The team led by Mr. Tonny Senkumba with over 50 MCs, had gathered for a meeting at Mawogola Ssaza County headquarters in Sembabule Town Council.
The day began with general cleaning as a community social responsibility at Sembabule Health Centre IV, on Tuesday, and donated maternity supplies meant to support mothers during childbirth.
During a meeting, Senkumba Tonny was re-elected as the chairman of the Mawogola Maters of Ceremonies, and will be deputized by Owek. Wamala Kuwatanya, the secretary is Omukungu Kaswa Alex, the treasurer is Mutagubya Deo, and Dick Saviiyo as the Secretary for Publicity.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the meeting, Tonny Senkumba warned that they are determined to streamline their work, eliminate impersonators by registering the all Cultural and Events Speakers in Mawogola County.
“Some of them are registered and have valid credentials, we have others who are willing and have approached us for registration, but there are others who have deliberately ignored and continue to act unprofessionally hence affecting the profession. We therefore come in force to streamline the work” he added.
Speaking to the meeting, the first deputy chief of Mawogola County Chief traditionally identified as “Muteesa” Owek. Suzan Namukwaya, urged them to do their job with professionalism, respecting the culture and traditions of the people they work for, as well as respecting the leadership of the Kingdom wherever they go.
“It’s you who manage most of the ceremonies where our officials represent the Kabaka, please always recognize them”.
She also asked them to embrace the registration and trainings to maintain quality of their service.
