Sembabule district leaders led by Patrick Nkalubo have endorsed the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU)’s National Chairman and Chief of Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the 2031 presidency.
Mr. Nkalubo, along with other leaders including District Male Councillor representing Workers Hon. Robert Bamutoraine, District Female Youth Councillor Hon. Jackline Kwarakunde, and others, formally declared their backing for Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 2031 presidential bid during a meeting held at the chairman’s office.
Mr. Nkalubo said they took a decision after thorough scrutiny of the objectives of PLU, guided by its vision of building a united, patriotic, self-reliant and sovereign Uganda where every citizen is empowered to contribute to national development.
“As Sembabule people, our wish is that when President Museveni steps down, there’s someone entrusted to take the country forward, and we hope Gen. Muhoozi will run this Uganda reflecting on his contributions so far as CDF”.
Other leaders, led by district council speaker Haji Erias Kasozi, unanimously supported Gen. Muhoozi with commitment to mobilize their electorates to embrace the endorsement.
“I declare my support for Gen. Muhoozi for the exceptional leadership exhibited as CDF, and hopeful that is the suitable replacement for our loyal leaders who will maintain the peace ushered in by the National Resistance Army, we therefore encourage our people to register”
Presenting the scheme to district leaders, Sembabule district PLU Vice Chairman Mr. Twinomugisha Paul said they expect to get more than 90% of the signatures of the people in Sembabule.
The endorsement forms part of a nationwide mobilization drive rolled out by the PLU ahead of the 2031 electoral cycle.
