Sembabule-September 26, 2026, Mawogola Ssaza faces yet another blow after seasonal leader & football investor Mr. Katerega Uthuman Mwanadamu aired his goodbye to Ssaza Football team leadership.
He declared his resignation during an interview with our correspondent on Saturday, after six years of service in positions of team manager and chairperson, a position he occupied until his resignation.
“For the last six years, I have had the honor and privilege to serve as Mawogola Ssaza Football Team Manager and Chairperson. It has been a journey of commitment, sacrifice, growth, and, above all, immense pride in what we have achieved together”, he said during an interview.
During his leadership, he has worked to strengthen professionalism, build a competitive side, and ensure that Mawogola was not only represented but recognised and respected in the Masaza Cup competitions. Together with other leaders, they have enabled Mawogola FC demonstrate what can be achieved when leadership, talent, and community support come together.
According to Kateregga, he has invested over Shs.300 million towards the success of the team.
“I have directly invested more than Shs.300 million towards the development of the team, its structures and the welfare of our players, and I am forever grateful that I contributed to the cause. I am therefore announcing that I am stepping aside from the administration of the club”, he added.
Despite the announcement, he says will remain a proud supporter and continue to celebrate, encourage and contribute to the team. “It is not a farewell to Mawogola or to the beautiful game, I will remain a proud supporter of my mighty team”, he said.
He commended the Kabaka of Buganda His Highness the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II and Mawogola Ssaza Administration for creating an opportunity for the youth to test their ability and serve their communities through sports.
“I extend my sincere appreciation to the Kabaka and the Sazza Administration for the trust they placed in me and for creating an opportunity for the young people of Mawogola to showcase their talent. Together, we have laid an important landmark in the history of Mawogola County in the Masaza Cup, and I am deeply proud and forever grateful to have been part of that journey”, he added.
He also thanked the fans and supporters for standing, supported the team’s efforts and ensured that the candle of Mawogola football did not go out. “Your encouragement, sacrifice and continued belief gave the club hope and the strength to keep going. I ask that you continue giving the team the same, or even greater, support in the years ahead”.
During his tenure, one of the greatest achievements was seeing some players nurtured by Mawogola go on to play in the Uganda Premier League, while others have joined established clubs and continued to represent themselves and their communities at higher levels.
In the six years, Mawogola FC has reached Quarter Finals twice; during 2020 indoor masaza games that were hosted in Njeru due to COVID-19 lockdown, and this year’s competitions that saw “Abaana Ba Muteesa” being eliminated by Kyaggwe FC with a record tally goals scored by Mawogola in a single season totalling to 14 goals.
